Guest Teacher Day – Jeudi le 8 mai, 2014

Bonjour!
I am away for the day.  You have been doing so great with guest teachers I know today will be even better.

9:00-9:40: Grade 8, Room 12 – Mr. Kropf’s

Congratulations, you get an extra day for your project!  No presentations today.
Depending on how finished everyone is, you can either take the period to finish and practice your presentations, or play a game.  Maybe split the period in half and do both.  It’s up to your Teacher to take a poll and decide which direction to take.

If you decide on playing the game, please see instructions down below in Ms. Knopinska’s class.

Here is the project outline:

YARD DUTY OUTSIDE @ 9:40-9:55.  Please wear vest and take a walkie talkie from the office.  Mrs. Noble will be outside and can direct you where to supervise.

If it is raining, please supervise the hallways for the last 10 minutes of recess and go to Rm. 10 and Rm. 9 for the last 30 min of lunch.

9:55-10:35: Grade 7/8, Room 11 – Mrs. Ducker’s

10:35-11:15: Grade 6/7, Room 10 – Ms. Knopinska’s

Behind my office door there is a red, large poster board with the words Zut, Zup, Zap on the top.  Attached to the red poster board are pockets with game cards in them.  Each card as a points value.  However, there are a few cards that have ZUT written on them.

On my cart there is a bundle of trivia cards (white with blue writing) with an elastic around them.  They are French Mathematical Questions.  If you are looking for more trivia cards, I have a whole basket of them on my bookshelf in a white bin.

Split the class in two teams.  Each team takes a turn.  A player from each team is chosen by the teacher to answer the question from the trivia card.  The team mates may help the player with their answer but they must ultimately give the final answer to the teacher.  If they are correct, they can choose a cart from the red poster board.  They must tell the teacher which card they want by saying in French the coordinates of the card, e.g. A3 (ah, trios)

The points value from the chosen card is recorded for that team.  If the player chooses a card with the word ZUT, they are forced to swap points with the other team.  They may be a good thing, or a bad thing.

Enjoy your game!

12:15-12:55: Grade 6, Room 9 – Mrs. Pratt’s

Yesterday in small groups you answered the questions from the video.  Please finish these questions and enter the into Google here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1shDKfg8Xdt92YBrFhiZerytcnWEoY5LEhpkucc7MLrA/edit?usp=sharing

You can set up both computers so this will go faster.  I will also give you guest teacher the script for the video that you can borrow.

While you are waiting I gave you a worksheet to complete the other day.  You only just got started so you should be able to work on this and finish.  When you are done, please finish all of the other worksheet that may be outstanding in your duotang.  If you are a superstar, you can help a friend or read a book.

12:55-1:35: Grade 3/4, Room 6 – Mrs. Taillon’s

There is a dance presentation assembly in the gym at 1:15.  Please accompany this class to the gym and supervise. I don’t think there will be time for French.  If there is, we usually go to room 7 on Thursdays but I don’t think they will be going to the library due to the assembly.

1:50-2:30: Grade 4, Room 7 – Mrs. McDowell

Watch the following video on time.  Stop at 4:27.  No need to learn about the 24 hour clock just yet.

Take out your clocks and try to make the following times.

Il est huit heures.

Il es dix heures.

Il est deux heures.

Il est six heures.

Il est un heure et demie.

Il est trois heures et quart.

Il est midi.

Il est cinq heures et quart.

Il est minuit et demie.

Il est sept heures moins le quart.

Il est quatre heures moins le quart.

***Your quest teacher will now hand back your worksheets on weather for your duotang.  If you are not done, you need to finish.***

You will also need to finish your worksheet from yesterday where you were asked to write out the time under the clocks.

If you are done, you rock!  Find something else in your duotang to finish up or help a friend get caught up.

Hope everyone had a great day!
